Elisabeth Soppelsa was born and raised in a small town in the German part of Switzerland, and studied jewellery making and design at the School Of Applied Arts in Zurich.
After having spent three years in the southern part of France, curiosity brought Elisabeth to Canada in 1972.
Her early childhood years were spent on a small winery, a defining experience that instilled a very strong bond to nature. Her jewellery today is a reflection of this bond.
“In a world of high-level stress, I needed to start searching for my emotional well-being,” says Elisabeth. “I needed to look for truth and had to find new ways of doing as well as being. In me, I found a continued wish to understand harmony and beauty.”
“My work is not meant to just decorate a person. Rather, I want to tell the wearer stories about having dreams, sorrows and joys and accepting myself as a small piece in a large frame. I feel that it is important to enchant a world in confusion.”
