Alan McIntosh

Alan McIntosh is a Toronto, Ontario-based artist who explored a wide variety of media and disciplines over three years while studying at the Ontario College of Art.  In 1992 Alan settled into precious metal jewellery launching Acme Anvil and working with silver, brass, copper and anodized aluminum.

After five years honing his metalsmithing skills with jewellery, Alan shifted gears experimenting with different common metals to produce work of greater utility.

"It was difficult at first working with stainless steel but after some frustration a style emerged that I consider unique. My serving pieces have been described as contemporary, cool, even funky, but I feel they also have a timeless appeal that can transcend fashion. The idea of Acme utensils being part of evening meals or backyard picnics makes me very satisfied."
