Mandy Deskur works out of her Macadi Jewellery studio/storefront in Elora, Ontario producing innovative jewellery designs of silver and gold inspired by nature's impressions. Having her workshop on site allows customers the opportunity to see the design process from start to finish.
After earning an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts at Lakehead University with a focus on Painting and Drawing, Mandy apprenticed with a Goldsmith in Elora and studied Gemmology at the Canadian Gemmological Association.
Mandy's initial interest lay in working with common metal producing wire sculpture. From the age of 19, her preference for wire work naturally led to experimentation in sterling silver jewellery starting with a pair of simple wire earrings. She was particularly attracted to metal as a medium in which the starting material undergoes a pronounced transformation from molten metal, to a bar, and then drawn into wire.
